The Short Version
I help organizations navigate technology risk and transformation — whether that’s standing up AI governance programs, maturing security and compliance posture, or enabling engineering teams to adopt AI with confidence. I advise, I architect, and I implement. Usually all three.
The Longer Version
I’ve spent 20+ years building and leading engineering organizations. Most recently as VP of Engineering at Acquia, where I led 100+ engineers through a major platform transformation (Hadoop → Snowflake/Databricks, 50% cost reduction) and led the engineering organization through SOC 2 Type II certification, GDPR readiness, and CCPA compliance.
That work — sitting at the intersection of engineering, data, and compliance — is what led me to where I am now.
Today I work across two areas that turn out to be deeply connected:
AI Governance & Enablement — I help engineering organizations adopt AI with discipline, not fear. I created aix, an open-source methodology framework that brings engineering rigor to AI-assisted development through spec-driven workflows, role separation, approval gates, and progressive enforcement. I’ve authored AI governance programs (policy, standards, operating models, training) and used the methodology to build production software in under a month. I wrote about the foundational thinking behind this in Describe, Design, Decide, Deliver — a framework that later evolved into how I think about human-AI collaboration.
Security & Privacy — I consult on information security, working across frameworks like NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and HIPAA. Current focus includes EO 14117 (DOJ Data Security Program) compliance and helping organizations mature their security posture — vulnerability management, hardening, GRC, and security awareness. The engineering background means I don’t just assess — I build the tooling and automation too.
The thread connecting all of this: I’ve always been drawn to the boundary between building things and governing them. Whether it’s AI adoption, security compliance, or engineering transformation, the work is the same — understand the risk, design the guardrails, and implement them so teams can move faster with confidence.
What I’m Building
- aix — A progressive methodology framework for AI-assisted development. Engineering rigor for AI workflows — roles, specs, approval gates, progressive enforcement. Tool-agnostic across Claude Code, Kiro, OpenCode, and Factory.
- aix-factor — An autonomous software factory that transforms product specifications into working pull requests through orchestrated AI agent sessions.
- A stealth product — An AI-first platform bridging the executive function gap for neurodivergent families. Multi-app ecosystem with professional-grade planning tools, adaptive scheduling, and an AI-first API. Production-ready, in active internal use.
